Food for fuel – Doesn’t everyone carry a teaspoon in their handbag and stuck in a bit of limbo?

With just ten days to go until my final event of the season which is what I have been hoping to improve my nutrition for I feel a little ‘stuck’. The food recipes are still exciting and doable, just I feel mentally stale and going through the motions rather than fully engaging. I also decided to do this interim post, then a full round up of the process once my final event is over.

I suspect it’s got as much to do with what feels like an endless treadmill (pardon the pun) of training since August 2019 with races cancelled and postponed so no real break from it for two years, and this is impacting on my enthusiasm for the nutrition side of my training.

This hasn’t stopped me from enjoying some time away in a mostly sunny Snowdonia and a quick recce of the OX bike route last weekend, followed by (for me) some pretty impressive snacking on the way home, hubby was driving, as after hitting the ride and brick run hard I knew I had to get food on board to recover fast, I definitely got some funny looks as I ate yoghurt on the motorway - doesn’t everyone carry a teaspoon in their handbag? Now I struggle to understand how I can ride and run with no bowel issues, yet straight out onto a run and I’m in bits, except for yesterday – another 75 minute easy and ‘poop’ free run, we are going to trial a slightly different meal plan into OX to see if that has any impact – watch this space!

I can see from my recent progression that something is working, just feeling a tad ‘meh’ just now so finding the enthusiasm a struggle, just need to maintain well planned nutrition so I head into Outlaw trained (✅, thanks to Paul), rested (🤞🤞) and well fuelled – wish me luck 🍀
