I have been coached by Paul since August 2019 and I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a coach. First and foremost, Paul not only talks the talk, he walks the walk, a great Age Group triathlete, he has years of experience and is able to input this experience into his coaching.

From my perspective, Paul has the most essential quality that any coach should have and that he is a good listener, receptive to athlete input and not overly dogmatic in his approach. He is supportive and he understands the frustrations that can accompany training and striving to improve.

I am a difficult person to coach as I do not have a great interest in data and do not subscribe to the need to have all the bells and whistles for training. That said Paul is a whizz with data, he mines it, interprets it and feeds back to advise on your progress.

The best thing about having Paul as a coach is that it makes you accountable. Using a training plan gives you structure but having someone to evaluate your training is a valuable asset in making tangible improvements. A coach cannot make you achieve your goals that’s down to you, but they can make you a smarter, fitter, better triathlete. Paul has helped me improve by adopting an 80:20 approach to training. More importantly he has helped me understand how my approach in the past has held me back from achieving my potential.

Coaching is essentially a relationship, you will only get out of it what you are prepared to put in. Working with a coach requires trust, not second guessing and trusting to the process, it is not a quick fix. Paul Sellars has helped me achieve my goals and I look forward to working with him in the future.
